The norda 005 features 100% Arnitel foam, a thermoplastic polyester elastomer (TPEE) known for its exceptional responsiveness and resilience. Unlike other brands that use a blend of foams, norda took a bold step by creating a midsole entirely from this high-tech material. This resulted in a shoe with double the cushioning, support, and energy return compared to traditional trail running shoes. The midsole’s impressive 80%+ resiliency rate provides superior shock absorption and enhanced stability, making it ideal for ultra-distance races like the Canyons 100K and Western States.
The 005's upper is made from bio-based Dyneema, one of the strongest and lightest materials in the world. This woven fabric is 15 times stronger than steel by weight, ensuring incredible resistance to wear and tear while maintaining flexibility. The new Dyneema weave design eliminates pressure points and improves water drainage, making it perfect for runners facing wet and rugged terrains. Even the laces are made from Bio-Dyneema, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit throughout long-distance runs.
For the first time in retail footwear, the norda 005 debuts Vibram’s Megagrip Elite technology. This ultra-high traction rubber compound, combined with a custom lug pattern (4mm depth), provides unparalleled grip on diverse terrains. Initially tested by norda’s elite 665 racing team, this outsole technology was originally scheduled for a late 2025 release but was fast-tracked due to its overwhelmingly positive feedback from professional athletes.
Unlike most high-performance racing shoes that wear out quickly, the norda 005 is designed to last over 500 miles. In contrast, competing models like the Nike Alphafly 3 and Adidas Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 often degrade after 100-250 miles, making the 005 a superior long-term investment.
