Audi is preparing to close an important chapter in Europe, but the story is not ending everywhere. The brand has confirmed that its iconic 2.5 liter five cylinder engine will leave European markets by mid 2027 because of upcoming Euro 7 emissions rules. Still, the RS3 will continue in non European markets, which means buyers in places like North America can still enjoy one of Audi’s most distinctive performance cars for a while longer.
Audi is dropping the 2.5 TFSI from Europe because updating it for stricter emissions laws would not make financial sense. That decision affects the RS3, which now stands as the final Audi model using this famous engine after several other performance models were already discontinued. For European enthusiasts, that makes the current RS3 even more special during its final stretch on sale.
Audi has confirmed that the RS3 will remain available in non European markets even after production for Europe ends. That gives this performance icon a little more time to live on in regions with less demanding emissions regulations. The five cylinder engine may be nearing its final chapter, but for now, it is still holding on and continuing to give the RS3 its unique character and sound.
