Italy is gearing up to make a powerful statement at this year’s Dubai Airshow 2025, bringing its most advanced aviation and aerospace technologies to one of the world’s leading industry gatherings.
Taking place at Dubai World Central (DWC) Airport from 17-21 November, the Airshow will spotlight the future of mobility, aviation, and space. For Italy, the event represents more than just an exhibition—it’s a platform for innovation, craftsmanship, and international collaboration that has long defined the country’s aerospace industry.
With over 30 Italian companies taking part, including 22 leading Italian SMEs within the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) Pavilion. Italy will highlight its extensive capabilities across aviation and mobility. Notably, small and medium-sized enterprises, which make up around 80% of Italy’s aerospace supply chain according to AIAD (2024), underscore the sector’s depth and dynamism.
Italy’s participation is organised by the Italian Trade Agency, in partnership with Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the Italian Industries Federation for Aerospace, Defence and Security (AIAD). The joint initiative aims to strengthen Italy’s global footprint and foster new international partnerships in technology and industry.
H.E. Lorenzo Fanara, Ambassador of Italy to the United Arab Emirates, said: “Dubai Airshow provides an outstanding platform for global leaders in aerospace to exchange ideas and explore partnerships. The remarkable growth in our civil aerospace exports to the UAE this year reaffirms the strength of our bilateral relations and Italy’s role as a trusted partner in the region.”
In 2025, Italy’s aerospace manufacturing industry generated €7.59 billion (US $8.16 billion) in value added and €15.36 billion (US $16.52 billion) in total output. These data points demonstrate stable year-on-year performance and reaffirm Italy’s precision, reliability, and competitiveness in the civil aviation and space manufacturing sectors. Civil aerospace activities account for roughly 70–75% of total production, underscoring the sector’s focus on commercial aviation, space applications, and propulsion manufacturing.
Looking ahead, Statista forecasts that value added will rise to €8.56 billion (US $9.20 billion) by 2026 and €9.18 billion (US $9.87 billion) by 2029, supported by export demand, investment in sustainable aviation, and advances in aerostructures and propulsion systems. Complementing this, Italy’s broader aerospace and security sector achieves a turnover of around €18 billion (US $19.4 billion) annually, with small and medium-sized enterprises comprising approximately 80 % of the national supply chain.
On the global stage, Italy remains a strong performer in aerospace trade, ranking 10th among the world’s leading exporters with €5.20 billion (US $5.59 billion) in export value in 2024, representing 1.7 per cent of total global aerospace exports. This global standing underscores Italy’s competitive advantage in civil aviation engineering, high-value manufacturing, and precision propulsion systems.
Mr Valerio Soldani, Italian Trade Commissioner to the UAE and Oman, added: “The 22 Italian companies exhibiting at Dubai Airshow 2025 embody the strength and precision of Italy’s aerospace ecosystem. From propulsion systems to avionics, aerostructures, and MRO components, our manufacturers continue to deliver world-class engineering and reliability. In 2025, the Italian aerospace industry generated an estimated €7.59 billion (US $8.16 billion) in value added and €15.36 billion (US $16.52 billion) in total output, demonstrating the sector’s strong global position and competitiveness. These results reflect the confidence that international partners place in Made-in-Italy technologies and the collaborative innovation driving sustainable growth across the civil aerospace sector.”
The Italian Pavilion will unite leading companies specializing in civil aerospace and space-related technologies, presenting advanced solutions in propulsion, avionics, composites, and maintenance support. Reflecting Italy’s deep-rooted tradition of engineering excellence, the showcase will emphasize sustainability, innovation, and advanced design. Together, these developments highlight how Italy’s aerospace sector continues to shape the UAE’s and the wider region’s rapidly evolving aviation landscape, seamlessly blending craftsmanship, heritage, and technological progress.
