Open to young talents aged 14 to 18 enrolled at a UAE GEMS Education School or GEMS Premier Music Academy, the competition invites bands to submit performance videos for review by the judging panel. Each band must have at least three members, including both a singer and musicians, and present a 1 to 4-minute performance of an upbeat, festive-inspired original song. The lyrics should capture the joy of the season, reflect the city’s festive spirit, and incorporate references to its landmarks and celebratory traditions. Festive costumes, dynamic stage presence, and energetic performance are encouraged to bring each entry to life. Submissions will be judged on lyrics, music, and performance by a panel of industry professionals and representatives from both partners. The judging panel includes Big Rossi of Virgin Radio, Jane Mraihi, the Managing Director of GEMS Premier Music Academy, Hakan Ozel, the General Manager of Shangri-La Dubai and more. From the entries, a winning act will be chosen to receive one term’s tuition at GEMS Premier Music Academy for each member, a professionally produced music video at Shangri-La Dubai as well as the chance to perform live at the hotel’s annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony, one of the city’s most anticipated festive traditions. And to top it up, winners will be able to celebrate with their friends and family by the pool at iKandy overlooking Burj Khalifa with food and drinks with the hotel’s compliments. By joining forces, Shangri-La Dubai and GEMS Education, which nurtures over 200,000 students from more than 176 nationalities, are creating more than just a competition.
